VINNIE PAUL Is 'Chomping At The Bit' To Record New Music With HELLYEAH
August 31, 2007Former PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott has told LiveDaily that he's "chomping at the bit" to record new music with HELLYEAH, the band he formed with lead singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett, both of MUDVAYNE, guitarist Tom Maxwell of NOTHINGFACE and bassist Bob Zilla of Abbott's previous group, DAMAGEPLAN.
"We're seeing how far we can take [HELLYEAH] this time around," Abbott said. "Then, early next year, they're going to have the new MUDVAYNE record and they're going to do a tour. When that's all done, we're going to get back together. In one-and-a-half to two years, we'll do HELLYEAH part two.
"New music is something we're looking forward to." Abbott continued. "HELLYEAH's been a lot of fun for all of us. That was the goal behind us from the very start: to not let it be a businesslike band — just go out and have fun."
HELLYEAH's Vinnie Paul Abbott and Tom Maxwell stopped by the WAMX studio in Huntington, WV on August 1 to chat about the Family Values tour, the YouTube Jägermeister video, the future and more. Download and listen to the 12-minute interview at this location (MP3, 16 MB).
Fan-filmed video footage of HELLYEAH performing the song "Alcohaulin' Ass" at the Toronto stop of the Family Values tour on July 24, 2007 has been posted on YouTube.
HELLYEAH's first official live performance took place on May 20 at Rams Head Live in Baltimore.
